Who you are agreeing with

Scienced is operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL ENTITY] of [REGISTERED ADDRESS](“we”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Scienced.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if that is higher.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Give accurate registration information, and do not impersonate another researcher or institution. Academic-email and ORCID verification are optional; misrepresenting an affiliation is grounds for removing the verification and the account.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display your content for the purpose of operating and promoting Scienced. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies retained in backups or in a moderation record.

Only post content you have the right to post. Do not upload text, figures, or manuscripts whose licence or publisher agreement forbids it.

Acceptable use

The Community Guidelines form part of these terms. In addition, do not:

• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the service outside published interfaces.
• Attempt to defeat rate limits, access controls, or another account.
• Use the service to distribute malware or unlawful material.
• Resell or sublicense access to the service.

Moderation and termination

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or the Community Guidelines. Removal is permanent: content taken down by a moderator is deleted, not hidden. We keep an internal record of what was removed so decisions can be reviewed.

You may stop using Scienced and delete your account at any time from Settings.

Rankings and third-party material

Paper metadata comes from arXiv and reference metadata from public providers; we do not own it and do not warrant its accuracy. The Papers rankings are AI-generated signals for discovery, not peer review and not a judgement of scientific validity. Do not rely on them as such.

Availability and liability

The service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profit, arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on this page with a new effective date, and continuing to use Scienced after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
